Job Title: Church Administrative Assistant
Reports To: Administrator, Executive Director, and Pastoral Staff
FLSA Status: Independent Contractor (1099)
Position Type: Part-Time (Estimated hours: Up to 16 hours per week; flexible based on need)
Compensation: $15-16/hour based on experience
Position Summary:
The Church Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the
church by performing a combination of administrative, maintenance, and general facility support
tasks. This role serves as a key point of contact for staff, members, and vendors, ensuring the
church operates smoothly and presents a welcoming, clean, and organized environment for all
who enter. This is a 1099 contractor position, requiring flexible availability, especially on
Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
● Must be a member of Body of Christ Church and have completed Square One.
● Must be at least 21 years old.
● Must have a valid driver’s license.
● Must provide a clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3
years.
● Must pass a background check
Administrative:
● Proficient in basic email communication; able to read and respond to emails effectively.
● Capable of answering and returning phone calls; able to check and respond to voicemail
messages.
● Comfortable with using presentation software (e.g., ProPresenter) and office-related
technology.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements:
● Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, and bending.
● Physically capable of standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
● Able to perform light maintenance tasks and cleaning duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities:
● Answer incoming calls, direct messages, and respond to voicemails in a timely manner.
● Monitor and respond to emails as directed by the Pastors, Executive Director, or
Administrator.
● Upload sermon slides and worship songs into ProPresenter; ensure content is legible and
appropriate for the service (including backgrounds and formatting).
● Coordinate with staff and volunteers for special service preparations and facility setup.
Facility & Maintenance Responsibilities:
● Pick up and store supplies and maintenance materials in designated areas.
● Receive delivered supplies and organize them appropriately within church facilities.
● Arrange and reset sanctuary chairs for special services and regular service setup.
● Set thermostat in sanctuary prior to Sunday service (Temperature setting TBD by
leadership).
● Coordinate setup and takedown of the baptismal pool; launder towels after use.
● Launder tablecloths and other fabrics as needed.
● Reference equipment manuals and plan repair work as necessary.
● Conduct general facility repairs that do not require licensed technicians (e.g., painting,
minor drywall work, door adjustments).
● Perform basic routine maintenance on building systems
● Monitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the church, including cleaning walls and
spot-treating carpet stains.
● Remove trash and dispose of damaged or broken items appropriately.
● Schedule and ensure routine maintenance for church vehicle (e.g., oil changes, fluid
checks).
General Responsibilities:
● Work collaboratively with church leadership and other staff to support ministry functions.
● Maintain confidentiality and uphold the values and mission of the church in all
interactions.
● Perform other duties as assigned and trained by the Pastors, Executive Director, or
Administrator.
Work Hours & Availability:
● Estimated up to 16 hours per week, depending on season and need.
● Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays must be available as needed, including occasional
weekends for special services or events.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office and church facility environment. The role
routinely uses standard office equipment as well as basic maintenance tools.
